‘The Story of Newry’ walking tour

Join champion storyteller and tour guide Sinead Rice McAleavey to explore Newry city. Newry’s heritage and colourful history will be brought to life on this imaginative stroll, which tells the stories of our famous and infamous people, waterways, public spaces and fine buildings.

As part of the walk, sample a local drink in one of Newry’s atmospheric old bars. Afterwards, treat yourself to a sumptuous afternoon tea at the Canal Court Hotel to complete your experience.

 ‘The Story of Newry’ walking tour takes place every Wednesday & Saturday  at 11am,  May – September, at Newry Town Hall.

Ceili & Craic in the Mournes

Experience a unique introduction to the Mourne Mountains with storyteller Sinead Rice McAleavey . Sinead will guide you through a céilí, explaining the traditions and origins of this warm and welcoming form of socialising.

Be transported from pre-Ice Age to modern times through song and storytelling. Lose yourself in our smuggling traditions and our long love affair with the devil’s buttermilk. Learn the lost arts of playing the bones, keening and lilting, among an abundance of delightfully odd facts, history and traditions. This hands-on experience has something for everyone… with tears, laughter, a drop of póitin and good old-fashioned fun guaranteed. Be ready to join in. 18+ event.
